All travel is by road within Bhutan.  The roads are well maintained by the government both for tourists and for trade and commerce.  The west to east road that runs from Ha in the west to Trashigang in the east touches all major towns in the country.  Even from Trashigang to Lhuntse the road is well connected and rarely is the road is blocked during monsoon due to landsides.  In winter snowfall might at times pose a problem with transportation in central Bhutan.  The roads are cleared as soon as possible by the Department of Roads with the help of their clearing units stationed in the various regions. The capital city is connected with India at Phuntsholing in the south-west and Trashigang-Samdrupjonkhar road in the south-east. The roads are winding and our mountain drivers will drive carefully at about 40 Km/hour.
